It would be very kind to have an option in the user settings where anyone could switch on or off this Translation by Microsoft® Translator function. These translations are unfirtunatelly so rude and ridiculous that I prefer the english text than a automatised translation.

Machine translation sure is not perfect (and it's sometimes outright funny ;) ), but being statistically based, it should improve over time.

This feature is meant:
- for people that don't have a good mastery of English, so that they can follow up on BGA news more easily (even if the translation is not so good, it conveys the general meaning)
- for people that prefer to have a linguistically homogeneous page, smoother on the eyes, and that will click on the 'show original text' when they want to read the news in English if the translation is not good enough for them.

From your feedback, I understand that there is a 3rd category of people, who have full mastery of English and don't mind a linguistically heterogeneous page, and would like better the news in English by default over an imperfect translation and the need to click to see the original text. Is that right?

If that's correct, two things can be done:
- add a user preference to display the English text by default
- expand the current system to enable community improvements to the default machine translation.

I don't like it too, in spanish this translator has lot of mispells :(.

Hi Een,

As I'm translating the site / games to hungarian, I should use the hungarian language as default to see if something needs to be corrected or translated. So yes, it would be very very useful (until the translation mechanism are in this development stage) to have a feature to switching on / off this option.

So basically your first idea is okay.

Ok, I'll push a new user preference for this in the next release.

Closing this thread now as this is not a bug but a suggestion (in fact there is already a thread about this in the suggestions forum : forum.boardgamearena.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4081)

Please keep the bug system just for bugs and use the suggestions forum for feature requests.

Prosím sem pridaj čokoľvek, čo sa zdá byť podstatné za účelom zreprodukovania tejto závady alebo pochopenia Tvojho podnetu:

Iné ID stola / ID ťahu
Vyriešil sa problém pomocou F5?
Objavil sa problém viackrát? Zakaždým? Náhodne?
Ak máš screenshot (dobrý zvyk), môžeš použiť Imgur.com na jeho nahranie a skopírovať sem odkaz na neho.
