Skara Brae
Around five thousand years ago, a resilient group of farmers and hunters built a thriving community on the Orkney Islands of Northern Scotland. Rather than discarding their empty shells, broken tools, bones, and other waste, they used them to form large mounds of earth over hundreds of years. Later generations dug into these midden piles to create a series of rooms and tunnels to shelter from the harsh winds and cold winter months.
The aim of Skara Brae is to gather various resources in order to feed, clothe, and shelter the growing number of settlers. Players take turns drafting cards and using their workers to furnish, cook, craft, clean, and trade. At the end of each round, players need to provide for their settlers and will likely create more midden that needs to be cleaned up. After four rounds, the player with the most points wins.

Skara Brae
In this tactical resource management game for 1-4 players, you lead a Stone Age community on the Orkney Islands. The goal is to gather resources to support your settlers and manage waste (Midden) to accumulate the most Victory Points (VP).
Gameplay
The game lasts exactly 4 rounds. Each round consists of 3 turns per player.
A turn consists of the following steps:
- Select Card: Choose 1 available Village Card from the display and resolve it immediately.
- Assign Workers: Place your Large Worker (and up to 3 Small Workers) on your Action Tiles. Actions are resolved from top to bottom.
- Retrieve Workers: Collect all workers back for your next turn.
Resources & Waste Management
Resources are stored in your storage area. Each slot holds exactly 1 resource.
- The Slider: If you gain more resources than slots available, the slider moves to the right. This increases waste production and results in negative VP at the end.
- Midden (Waste): Occupies storage slots and can only be removed via the "Clean" action.
Round End & Scoring
After 3 turns, the round ends:
- Feeding: Each settler without a roof must be fed 1 Food, or they are discarded.
- Waste Production: Gain Midden according to the slider's position (minus Utensil bonuses).
End of Game: After 4 rounds, points are awarded for played cards (Settlers, Roofs, Stone Balls), track progress, and upgraded Action Tiles. Midden and slider position result in negative points.
Action Tile Overview
Each tile can be activated once by a Small Worker and once by the Large Worker per turn.

Village & Special Cards
